Company History

Bernard Benedict Jude was born on a farm near Maple Lake on May 29, 1885, the son of Richard and Ann Welton Jude. He received his elementary education in the rural schools, and took a teaching course. During the years 1906 to 1914 he taught school in the rural districts of Wright county.

On June 14, 1917, Mr. Jude was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Celia Leick at Madelia, Minnesota. Following his marriage, he entered the general merchandise business in Maple Lake and continued in this enterprise until 1935 when he started JUDE VENDING.

Together Mr. and Mrs. Jude set the foundation by working out of their garage and station wagon. While Mr. Jude would travel on his sales route to increase business, Mrs. Jude would remain at home to answer the phone and do the bookkeeping. Mr. Jude died suddenly of a heart attack on March 23, 1953, while servicing an account in Brooten, Minnesota. Mrs. Jude continued to answer the phones and do the bookkeeping until 1958 when she retired.

From their start the business continued to grow and prosper to what it is today, always being operated by the Jude family.
